Monthly Missions
Loving our community, one month at a time.
At Highland City Church, we believe the church should be known by how it serves. Each month, we identify a specific group of people in our community who are in need — and we make it our mission to meet that need in a practical, meaningful way.
From students without winter clothes to foster parents needing a night off, from teachers who could use encouragement to families struggling to make ends meet — every month looks a little different, but the goal is always the same: to share the love of Jesus through action.
How It Works
Each month, our team partners with local schools, organizations, and agencies to identify real needs in Gilmer County and the surrounding area.
Once a mission is chosen, the entire church comes together — donating supplies, giving financially, and volunteering their time to make it happen.
We also host in-church donation drives so everyone can easily participate, whether it’s dropping off items on Sunday or helping deliver them during the week.
What a Monthly Mission Might Look Like
Every mission is unique, but here are just a few examples of what we’ve done or may do:
- Winter Clothing Drives – Providing jackets, shoes, and warm clothes for students identified by local schools.
- Foster Family Support Nights – Coordinating meals or childcare so foster parents can have a night of rest.
- Teacher Encouragement – Supplying classroom snacks, coffee cards, or thank-you baskets for hardworking educators.
- Community Partnerships – Working with DFACS, CPS, or local food banks to deliver essential items like diapers and groceries.
- Neighborhood Outreach – Visiting Section 8 housing communities to share meals and prayer with families.
- Service Projects – Partnering with the Gilmer County Recreation Department or other groups to improve local facilities and programs.
Each mission is an opportunity to make the love of Christ tangible — to meet needs, build relationships, and remind people they’re seen and valued.
Why It Matters
We don’t want to be a church that just meets on Sundays. We want to be a church that moves — one that steps into the real needs of our neighbors every month with compassion and consistency.
Monthly Missions give everyone a way to live out their faith in simple, powerful ways that change lives — both for those being served and for those doing the serving.
