Mission & Values

Our Mission

In Matthew 28:19 Jesus tells his disciples to “Go and make disciples of all nations.” The Great Commission continues to be the same mission of the Church today and is what Highland City Church focuses our efforts towards. Our mission focuses on being and being disciples of Jesus Christ.

What is a disciple of Jesus Christ? Jesus had many followers, but he only had 12 disciples. We are called to be disciples, not just followers! It’s hard to hit a target that you can’t see, so we must first know what a disciple looks like. Jesus tells us what a disciple should be in Luke 6:40; “A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher.” In other words, without question, we are called to make disciples that look and act like Jesus because He is our teacher.

Throughout Jesus’ ministry, he not only taught his disciples but he led by example and then sent them out into the mission field. He modeled the conduct, which is a reflection of character (best summarized by the fruits of the spirit), that he wanted his disciples to reciprocate! At Highland City Church we call these acts, or marks, the M7s. Fully trained M7 Disciples model the character and conduct of Jesus Christ.

Series of four book covers titled 'Impact One', 'Impact Two', 'Impact Three', and 'Impact Four' by Ken Adams, focusing on different aspects of disciple making within small groups.

At Highland City Church, we understand that finding a new church
can be a significant and personal journey.

  • Culturally Relevant

We connect with contemporary culture through casual dress, music, and media while staying true to God’s Word.

  • Relationship Centered

Our focus is on building strong, personal relationships, prioritizing people over programs.

  • Organized for Growth

We structure our church to support continuous growth, just as the early church did.

  • Small Groups Prioritized

We emphasize small groups as the most effective way to do ministry.

  • Spiritually Qualified Leaders

Leadership is based on spiritual integrity, not politics.

  • Attitudes of Acceptance

We desire for our church to be a place where people of different backgrounds find love and acceptance (1st Peter 2:17)

  • Operate by Gifts & Passions

The best way for the church to do ministry is when believers serve within their area of spiritual giftedness and passion.

  • Disciple-Making Focus

We believe Christ wanted the Church to be a movement of multiplying disciples (Matthew 28:19-20).

  • Scriptural Authority

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and our sole authority for life (2nd Timothy 3:16).

  • Rely on Prayer, Faith & The Holy Spirit

Our church is guided by prayer, faith, and the Holy Spirit for divine wisdom.
